'06-'07 Basketball Tips Off

Acie Law IV takes a hard fall

Billy Gillispie and the Aggie Basketball team tipped of their season last night at Reed Arena, defeating Midwestern State 79-54.

The easy win was marred by a frightening fall taken by Law early in the game, as cell phones around college station started blowin up, reporting that Law was on the floor and not moving for an eternal 4 minutes.

The Ags' non-conf schedule consists of:
11/03 - Lithuanian Academy
11/10 - Prairie View A&M
11/17&18 - Shelby Metcalf Classic (Texas A&M, LA Tech, St. Louis, Lamar)
11/25 - Idaho State
11/27 - Arkansas-Little Rock

12/02 - Pacific
12/05 - @ LSU **big rematch**
12/09 - John R. Wooden Classic (vs. UCLA)
12/12 - Fordham
12/16 - Jacksonville
12/22 - @ Auburn
12/28 - Grambling State

1/02 - Winthrop

as you can see, Gillispie's philosophy of building confidence through a relatively easy home schedule in non-conference is still evident, yet the '06-'07 schedule adds the tough road games against respected programs (UCLA, LSU, and Auburn) that almost kept the Aggies out of the big dance last season.

Be wary of Winthrop. If they have their act together this year, they might take it to the Eight.
